Okay...

So I love reading. It's one of my biggest passions. To open a book and fall into a crazy adventure and forget all about the other things, that's really what I like. I love books. I can't imagine my life without books.

So there I was, in my room in Tahiti, wondering which books shall I take with me to Spain. The choice was really hard. I have a bunch of books (about 15) that I really really love. I read them all at least once a year. Eventually I came to make a choice between The Host, which is one big book, and the three books of Eragon. So of course the choice was really easy (and if you can't understand why, think about the weight!). But in the end, I couldn't take the book. Which was really painful to me. The Host is like in my Top 5 Books. It was written by Steph Meyer, the author of the Twilight series (as you could read it by clicking on the link) and while I don't really like the Twilight books (I really rather watch the movies), well this other book is, I think, truely THE book of Steph Meyer. It's a terrific reading. I can't explain myself really well but it's just the kind of book I would recommend to anyone looking for an awesome time while reading.

Along with the Host, I also really love the books from the Eragon series, the Cherub series, the Otoris series, the Tamir Triad series, the Gone series, and others I can't recall. So yeah, to cut one story short, I like reading series. You can have more time to understand the characters and live through them the things that happen to them.

Nowadays, I'm waiting for the fourth book of the Gone series, Plague, which surely must be lost somewhere between the United States and Spain...

And so. I didn't take any book with me, didn't have place. Instead I bought three books while I was in LA. After one month of being in Spain, after having read and read again these three books, I started to feel I needed to buy another book. Could'nt live the year with just these three books. Question was, was I ready, did my spanish was good enough to stard reading in spanish ?

The first spanish book I bought was Desde mi cielo, whom I had seen the movie. Having loved the movie I thought I would love the book and that it would be easier to read. Big mistake. My spanish wasn't good enough to read past the first three pages. I rapidly gave up. Then I waited some time. I bought Cazadores de Sombras and I thought I could read it til the end, cause I didn't know the story and then I would like to know what was the ending, how the story was... another mistake. I don't know what I'll do with this book. I will surely try reading it again, but I feel that even if I read it in english, I wouldn't like it a lot...

I let time pass by. My spanish improved. Several months after, I felt like I was finally ready. I borrowed Memorias de una Geisha at the library of my faculty. When I was at the half of the book, I felt like I could do it. So I gave back the book (which was, by the way, way past the due limit) and bought the book. And finish it. I was really happy when I had finally flipped the last page. Like a big achievement. My first spanish book and it wasn't even a small book !

After that, I began readingin spanish more. I bought the two last books of Eragon (I really couldn't wait my coming back to Tahiti to read them anew - I had to read them again ! The story is so compelling, every time I went to the bookstore I felt as if the books were staring at me, asking me why I was still looking for a new read when I had them at hands - and so of course, I bought them), some mangas, La historia Interminable, La Tierra de las Cuevas Tintadas (can't wait to begin reading this one ! though I think it's going to be tough).

So, why did I start the topic ? That's cause I'm starting wondering how I'm going to send all of my stuff back to Tahiti or to Bordeaux, my future city. I have a lot of books, really. I think I have more here than I had in New Zealand. So I was talking with my friend Lorena about sending them with Correos. And she said the most awful thing I never would have thought I could hear from her:

Why don't you just throw them away ?

I stared at her, could'nt believe it, eyes open, mouth open, o-h-m-y-g-o-d Lorena !! whatcha sayin' ???

Then she said :

Or you could give them, or sell them...

I said :

I don't buy books to read them just once and them throw them away or give them to someone else (well, except if the book is real shit).

Well, that's what I do.

OMG, Lore. I'm sure you don't like reading.

Yes of course I like reading. But I don't see why I should keep a book when I've already read it.

So you don't like books. Okay.

I was shocked. I don't like people when they said that they don't see why they should read anew a book they already read. I don't understand. If you liked the story, of course, you would like to go back to the book. I'm never going to throw away my books, they're like my biggest treasures. My bro is also kinda like this. He doesn't like reading and he doesn't understand (well, when he was young, but nowadays I dunno if he's somewhat matured) why our mother and me keep our books.

Damn.
